Ā鶹¹ū¶³“«Ć½-operated public radio station’s fall membership drive shortened

KEDM-90.3 Public Radio is forgoing the station’s standard eight day fall membership drive, opting instead to meet its fundraising goal with one less drive day and fewer hours of on-air fundraising each day, according to officials.

The station’s goal is to reach $42,000, during a membership drive that kicks off at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1, and comes to conclusion at 6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 8.

ā€œA shorter pledge drive just means we need to meet the goal faster,ā€ said Joel Willer, director of broadcasting for the University of Louisiana at Monroe. ā€œThat way KEDM has the money it needs to provide programming, and listeners hear more programming with less fundraising.ā€

KEDM Development Director Susan Allain said listeners don’t have to wait for the pledge drive to begin giving to KEDM Public Radio. The station is accepting on-line contributions now at kedm.org.

KEDM, operated by the University of Louisiana at Monroe, depends on the financial support of its local listeners and corporate sponsors to air much-needed programs such as in-depth coverage of news and a variety of entertainment programs.
